Janine Gore

My name is Janine Gore and I am 45 years old. When I left school, I trained to be a Nursery Nurse. When I got to my early forties, I realised I would like to do something else besides Education. A colleague at work told me about the SHIELD PROGRAMME as I would like to bake cakes for a living. Everyone at the SHIELD PROGRAMME have been very supportive and encouraging and this has given me the courage to want to step out of my comfort zone. They have encouraged me to examine what I want to do and also to think about how I would like my business to start off with and maybe take off in another direction. It is not easy giving up a full-time job, but I know they will help me take it a step at a time. I make cakes which are suitable for Vegetarians, Vegans and Diabetics and I am hoping to start a line where I cater for people with wheat allergies, but at the same time making them healthier than shop bought cakes.
